DCMP - Described and Captioned Media Program

Explore the Web site to learn how we are living our mission to promote and provide equal access to communication and learning for students who are blind, visually impaired, deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf-blind. The DCMP is an idea that works thanks to funding by the U.S. Department of Education and administration by the National Association of the Deaf.

Sevrices include: 1) The DCMP media library which has over 4,000 free-loan described and captioned media titles available to registered Level 2 members, and our members can watch media online or order a DVD copy to be shipped to them. 2) The DCMP also serves as a clearinghouse of information and materials on the subject of description and captioning for service to consumers, agencies, corporations, and schools. Clearinghouse offerings include numerous DCMP print and online informational resources as well as a gateway to accessibility information from the Web sites of the DCMP and its collaborators.3) The DCMP assists in the marketing of educational accessible media products and services by maintaining a database of educational accessible media available for purchase from producers and distributors. This information is then made available to potential purchasers. The DCMP also maintains lists of agencies performing description/captioning work, makes this information available to consumers seeking this service, and provides guidelines for performing the description and captioning of educational media.
